For countless years I were living with the monster of perfectionism. In the world of a perfectionist “sufficiently good” doesn’t exist. According to perfectionist there is simply no such consideration as a well enough marriage, a well enough home, a good weight, a sufficient grade, a sufficiently good dinner party or a sufficient performance. Every little thing has to be outstanding or a perfectionist will reject it.This is a particularly treacherous way of living:

To start with “perfection” doesn’t exist. Every person presents a different “flawless” and what appears perfect for me is probably not ideal for you in the slightest degree. Second, running after faultlessness can rob a person of serenity, connections and lots of wonderful things as well as encounters which doesn’t fit into your “perfect” package.

In the Search for Perfection the goal is mainly pleasing ourselves and impressing others. This quest brings forth fixation, neurosis and anxiety in our lives. Additionally: Perfection is something we strive for in our own strength, which is at best restricted and flawed, and so the outcome is uncertain and the actual objective unachievable.

So, you may try to do every little thing as close to perfect as humanly possible and still be not even close to Holy.
