Select an exercise program. The exercise program can be as simple as walking for 30 minutes every other day or as complex as working out at the fitness center three times a week for 30 minutes. Make the exercise program fun and enjoyable. This will make sticking to the routine easier when the certain days pop up and you do not feel like doing any form of exercising.

Create a goal for the weight loss. Make a period of time to reach the goal. Be realistic and easy for yourself. Do not say you want to lose 40 pounds in ten weeks since this is only setting yourself up for failure right off the start. The average weight loss that is healthy is no more than 7 pounds a week. Give yourself enough to reach the weight loss goal.

Make progress chart. This will have the beginning weight and the recorded weight loss during. Start off by weighing yourself in front of your friend. This will make you be completely honest and not stretch the truth about any losses.
