The Secondary Function Of Abs

We all know that the primary function of abs, AKA abdominal muscles, is to make us look good. This is the most important function of all our muscle groups. To be able to spread our genes to the future generations, we must first find a mate and to find a mate we must have beautiful muscles to attract the opposite sex. No attraction means, no continuation of the human species. That is why everybody tries to do flatten belly exercises and diets. However, in this article we will examine the secondary function of abdominal muscles.

The secondary function of the abs is to protect the torso and make the movement from waist possible. When we bend down from the waist our abdominal muscles work in coordination with our back muscles. While our abs contract, our back muscles stretch making it possible for us to bend forward. They are the foundation of our torso. Our posture is preserved thanks to our abdominal muscles. All our weigh above waist level stands on our spine and the spine is made up of small bones called vertebrae. There are 26 vertebrae in our spine. 7 of them are cervical, 12 of them are thoracic and 5 of them lumbar. If we add sacrum and coccyx we arrive at the number 26. These bones are not strong enough to carry the weight of our upper body. They need support from our muscles and find the majority of the support they need from abdominal muscles. If we didn't have abdominal muscles, we wouldn't be able to bend or turn from the waist. That would cause problems while dancing. There are also some minor activities like carrying things and picking up objects from the floor but the most important thing is dancing. Because dancing helps us spread our genes just like our beauty. Even for a man who likes to stay cool and says "I don't dance," the abdominal muscles make it possible to stand straight or swagger.

When these muscles are not used and exercised, our posture starts to collapse. This adds unwanted strain to our spine causing back pains and dysmorphosis in our spine. Belly fats cover the frontal side of our abdominal muscles and they make our body heavier. A heavier body combined with less activity makes our abdominal muscles weak causing some health problems.

To get rid of the belly fat and became a healthier and more desirable person is not as hard as people suppose. Regular exercise and a diet with low calorie and high fibers is enough to burn all the unwanted fats in our body. However if we want our abdominal muscles in shape we can add to this some special exercises. If we do only flatten belly exercises we can only get rid of the fat layer. With some extra wok, we can have abs everybody would want to have. You don't have to buy special equipment or pay thousands of dollars to a gym to have abs in shape. All you have to do is being willful and exercise.
