Mens Ideal Weight

Is there really an ideal weight for men? Most of us check if our weight is proportion with our height or if we have the ideal weight considering our body mass index. The common reason why we are so concerned about this is because it gives us an assurance. If we fall on the ideal weight range we feel that we are actually healthy which gives us the assurance that we are doing okay. But the answer to the question still lies within us.

It would really be hard to measure the ideal weight for men since every person has different body types. Some men just have bigger frames than another. What books or internet usually offers is weight ranges ideal for men's frames. So you'll need to measure up your height and your frame and then check the chart out if your weight falls within the acceptable range. Almost all these charts have disclaimer about its accuracy and still refers best to each individual's physician. So it all boils down to ask your doctor to make sure. But to get down to it we must ask ourselves why would we really want to know what's ideal?

Some men want to know if their weight is ideal because of health reasons. The idea behind this is because a lot of diseases are somewhat connected to weight like diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, metabolic syndrome, certain types of cancer, fatty liver, sleep apnea and a lot more. So being in the ideal weight range somehow makes them feel more secured that they are healthy and there are lesser risks of having the diseases mentioned.

Another reason why men want to check out their ideal weight is because of physical appearance. Have you ever experienced commenting on someone about gaining weight and they answer back that it's still within the ideal weight range? Most men often take their physique seriously so having that range give them more confidence that they are still doing fairly well. It sometime gives them leeway as well to eat more or even less. It serves as a guideline or a model to follow.

But ultimately, men's ideal weight lies within themselves. If your reason for checking is because of physical appearance then nothing beats looking at the mirror. Yes, check out a life-sized mirror and see if your body looks good. You can even take a picture to see your progress. You are your toughest critic so for sure you'll be able to identify if your body looks good or not. See if your clothes fit you well. There is nothing more gratifying if you feel confident that your clothes go well with your body. Of course if it's for health reason, then it would really be best to have physical examinations. You wouldn't want to put your health in a budget since you'll end up spending more if you have serious diseases. To keep that body looking great outside you have to be healthy inside. So when you start asking what your ideal weight is, try to root out the reason why you want to know because there is no absolute calculation of what ideal is. You can always set your own "ideal."
