Oprah Winfrey And Her Influence On The Weight Loss Industry

She is considered as one of the most influential icons in modern history. Everything she says and does is followed not just by women but also by a considerable number of men all around the world. That is why whenever she is on another weight loss experiment, the weight loss industry is being shaken up.

Oprah has the power to command a shift in the current weight loss industry. That is because despite her stature, she is also prone to one of the most pressing problems that hound ordinary people: excessive weight gain and obesity. People from all walks of life could easily relate to her when she openly confesses how hard she tries to lose weight and maintain an ideal or healthy figure. What is most notable about Oprah's weight loss initiatives is that she is like most of us: prone to unnecessary and excessive weight gain.

With a user like someone as influential as Oprah, any weight loss product, technique, or program could instantly gain popularity. You could be sure whatever product or program Oprah uses would be followed by her huge number of followers worldwide. Those followers have friends and families who would also be influenced or persuaded to use the programs. And so, Oprah could produce somehow a Doppler effect to any weight loss regimen.

It is an open book that Oprah's adult weight has been fluctuating between 138 and 198 pounds. That makes her very human, like all other women. In fact, she says her weight history is horrible, surprising, and challenging all at the same time.

It was in 1988 when Oprah experienced an odd weight loss and weight gain episode. She embarked into a liquid diet for four months, enabling her to lose weight by as much as 67 pounds. She fitted into size-10 jeans. Her weight then was 145 pounds, her lowest adult weight. However, only a few days after going off the diet, she quickly regained the weight she lost. In just a week, she accumulated 10 pounds and was no longer fitting into size-10 jeans. That was a major embarrassment for her. Apparently, that was also the start of her obsession to find the perfect weight loss program for herself.

In 1992, Oprah's weight peaked into the highest in her entire adult life. She reached 237 pounds. Since then, she has been more open about her search for the most appropriate weight loss regimen. She was very human to admit her problem to everyone and apparently make fun of her obsession. That made her more loved by people who share the same sentiments.

Now Oprah is still at it, trying out different weight loss supplements, products, and techniques. She shares her experiences with people probably to set an example and inspiration so that her followers would also be concerned and aware about health and fitness like her. Her different weight loss experiments are certainly making an impact in the industry.
