Weight Loss Pomona - Working Your Abs

There has not yet been found to be a person in America today that does not want toned and tight abdominals. If you go out and ask most men and women what areas they would like to change the most about their bodies, chances are they are going to say something like ?I wish I had a six pack" or "I wish I could tighten up my midsection a little more". The abdominals are the number one problem area on people today. Everyone is seeking some of weight loss and it does not matter if you are seeking Weight Loss in Pomona, or half-way across the country; you still want abs. Achieving toned abdominals is not impossible, and unfortunately, most people are approaching it in the wrong way.

It starts with your diet. If you are eating too many bad carbohydrates such as white potatoes without the skin, white pasta, white rice, sweetened cereal, high-fat snacks, etc., then you are narrowing your chances of ever seeing your abdominals. Keep in mind that they are there - they are just underneath that extra layer of fat that you are carrying around with you. Good carbohydrates need to be substituted for the bad ones. They are lower in fat and keep you fuller longer. A few examples of some good carbohydrates are wheat bread, wheat pasta, whole grain rice, whole grain cereals high in fiber, spinach, broccoli, anything high in fiber and low in calories. Try consuming more of the good variety and you should start to see a decrease in your overall body fat, including that middle layer. Here are some other helpful ways to go about shedding that unattractive fat in your midsection:

1) Get plenty of cardiovascular exercise. Getting 3 to 4 days per week should be sufficient enough to reach your goals. Make sure that you are doing intervals; meaning, walk for 1 minute, run for 3, walk for 2, run for 4, etc... You get the picture. Do not do no less than 20 minutes per session - remember, you need to make your cardiovascular workouts count.

2) Count up your caloric intake. It takes approximately 3500 calories to gain a pound. Men should not go under 1600 calories a day, while women should not exceed below 1200 calories a day. Try not to go over 3500 calories per day or you are going to be fighting an uphill never-ending battle with your weight.

3) Protein counts. Protein is something that our bodies need to stay full and to feel satisfied. Try to stay away from greasy protein sources such as hamburgers and ribs. Stick with lean protein sources such as chicken and fish. Make sure you are adding a serving of protein to all of your meals and snacks.

4) Do some crunches. Not a lot, however, doing too many will just tone down your muscle and defeat the purpose. You will oftentimes hear of people doing 150 crunches per day, 5 days a week - that is way too much! Try to stick to something less excruciating like 3 sets of 15, 3 times per week. Focus more on quality, not quantity.

5) Make sure you are eating 5 to 6 times per day. Eating any less than that encourages overeating when you do get hungry and promotes weight gain. Try spacing your meals out every 2 to 3 hours, watching your portions and making healthy choices. This will also help keep your energy level stable throughout the day.

Uncovering your abdominals is not impossible unless you make it that way. People all over the world are wanting to lose weight. It is possible for anyone, anywhere. Weight loss in Pomona is as easy to find as weight loss on the other end of the country.
