Getting Tone Vs. Bulking Up

Lifting weights is not just for bulking up. It is also a great way to lose weight, firm your body, and tone your muscles for a sculpted look that will give you the body that everyone else envies. Even if you are bulking up, it is important to remember the need to tone on occasion. Conditioning can give you that true body builder's look that you are striving for. Sheer strength is a great side effect to weight training, but we all must agree that the true reason we lift is for that appearance. The problem is that many people do not know how to attain that goal. Here is a quick look and some tips to aid you on your journey to that firm and sexy body.

The first thing that you will need to do is toning exercises. There is not much to it and, other than the burn, you will not really notice any change in your routine. When toning, you will want to work on the major areas like biceps, thighs, stomach, and chest. If you are working for strength, you will want to pick the last day of the week that you lift, otherwise, you can do this every workout. For those bulking up, cut the normal weight in half, for everyone else find a weight that can be fairly easily lifted. Once you have selected the right ones, start your normal lifting routine (curls, leg extensions, sit ups, and flies) but you do not have to count reps. Keep lifting until you can not lift them any longer. You may want to start with curls or flies and then switch to the thighs. This will give your arms a break, allowing you to get the full potential out of the exercises.

Cardio training is a must for anyone that desires a tone body. Whether you are using stair steppers, jogging, calisthenics, or any other method to get your heart racing, you need it to create a firm and fit body. Even if you are just jogging around the neighborhood every day, you can use this burn the fat and get that sculpted look. There are several different alternatives for you if you are like me and hate to run. Jumping jacks and similar exercises are one way as well as strapping a weight to your back and climbing a few flights of stairs as quick as you can. A little imagination can go a long way here. Any form of exercise that is sustained for at least thirty minutes and gets your heart rate up will work. As these get easier, you will want to extend the duration in at least fifteen minute increments.

One more way that you can get that tone look relies on your diet as well. A high protein diet with your normal workout regimen can really show improvement quickly. You will want to keep solely to proteins as much as possible. This may require supplements and vitamins to stay healthy, but this drastic diet can turn your skin to shrink wrap. By having an exclusive protein diet, your body will eat through the fat and your skin will "vacuum seal" around the underlying muscle. The only problem with this is that you will want to break this diet for a week or two after two weeks of it. Staying on it for longer than two weeks can not only be hard to keep up, but it can be nutritionally detrimental.

These tips and tricks are just a start. There are several other things that you can do for this. You may want to ask around and get some more advice from others in the gym. There are several different ideals and strategies to a fit, trim, and tone body. In the world of weight lifting not everything works for everyone. You will want to gather as many routines as you can and take what works for you out of each one. You can also combine some or even create your own methods. No matter how you go about getting the routines, keep at them if they work or get a new one if it works better.
