Clinical Study Validates Again That Celsius Burns Calories

Celsius Holdings announced the results of a second clinical study of Celsius, the innovative beverage credited for creating the calorie burning category that is revolutionizing the beverage market.

This research study was conducted in the Applied Biochemistry and Molecular Physiology Laboratory in the Department of Health and Exercise Science at the University of Oklahoma. The research further validates the effects of Celsius on boosting calorie burning, by means of increasing metabolism. The study was presented today at the International Society of Sports Nutrition Annual Scientific Symposium held in Las Vegas. The university scientist reported that both male and female study participants consuming just one bottle of Celsius burned an average of 100 more calories than a placebo over a three hour period.

The blinded, placebo-controlled study was conducted on a total of sixty men and women of normal weight. An equal number of participants were separated into two groups to compare one serving (12oz.) of Celsius to a placebo of the same amount. According to the study, those subjects consuming Celsius burned significantly more calories versus those consuming the placebo, over a 3-hour period. The study confirmed that over the 3-hour period, subjects consuming a single serving of Celsius burned 65% more calories than those consuming the placebo beverage, and burned an average of more than 100 calories compared to placebo. These results were statistically significant. The data further showed that women in the study increased their metabolic rate by an average of 14%, while men increased their metabolic rate by an average of 8% during the three-hour period following consumption of one 12 oz. bottle of Celsius.

Celsius, Inc.'s second study was conducted as part of its ongoing research program designed to prove that the intended functional benefit is delivered by Celsius. In its initial study, presented at the International Society of Sports Nutrition Scientific Symposium in 2005, the metabolic rate of twenty individuals of normal weight were tested at a pre-ingestion baseline on two separate days, one with Celsius being consumed and the other with the placebo being consumed. This first study demonstrated Celsius raised metabolism by an average of 12% over a 3-hour period.

"This, second study confirms that Celsius burns calories, increases metabolism and provides an energy boost over a three hour period," said Chad Kerksick, Ph.D., who served as Chief Researcher for the project at the University of Oklahoma. "Specifically, this study found that Celsius helpedindividuals burn an average of over 100 calories more than those participants consuming the placebo. Additionally, the new study found that participants who consumed only one serving of Celsius maintained a 65% greater level of calorie burning over a similar group of men and women that consumed a placebo." Continuing, Dr. Kerksick said, "In my opinion by investing in additional research, Celsius, Inc. is building a conclusive body of research demonstrating clinical evidence of functionality for calorie-burning."
