Reach Your Weight Loss Goal One Step At A Time

One of the most common New Year’s Resolutions that Americans make is to lose weight in the coming year. But, it is hard to keep up with this goal, especially if you do not have a concrete plan.

TIP! Try to become a coffee drinker if you want to lose some weight. Many people consume coffee, but most don’t realize that it can be a helpful aid when exercising and keeping fit.

Turn your time on the phone into a weight loss workout. Rather than lounging on the couch as you talk, try walking around the house. You don’t have to perform strenuous exercises. Just move around and the calories burned will add up.

French Fries

TIP! Eat a bowl of salad before your meals. Salads are high in fiber, and they make you feel full with fewer calories.

Everyone loves french fries! Unfortunately, they have wrecked many well-intentioned dieters. Try baking your french fries to continue with your weight loss. After slicing potatoes into 1/2″ strips, place in a bowl along with 1T of canola oil. Sprinkle with pepper, salt and other seasonings of your choice. Arrange the fries on a roaster pan or cookie sheet in just one layer and bake at 400 degrees in your oven for 30 minutes. Loosen it with a spatula; turn and bake for approximately 10 more minutes. These fries taste great and have less fat because they aren’t fried. Enjoy them with some ketchup! These “French Bakes” are courtesy Laurel’s Kitchen cookbook.

Don’t get too hard on yourself when you slip up. Perfection is not necessary. If you slip up and eat too much ice cream, just make up for it with some extra miles or hours of exercise. If you are low on time, don’t worry about it. Dwelling on the negative will only take your mind off of your goal. Put one step in front of the other to keep moving on toward your goal!

TIP! Try to refrain from eating before you go to sleep at night. Although it is easier said than done, not eating food before going to sleep is not helpful towards losing weight because it ends up not being able to get burned off.

If you want to lose about five pounds quickly, increase your water intake. Cut down on solid food, and drink a minimum of 1/2 gallon of water each day, and you’ll lose water weight over a week’s time. You’re not actually losing any fat with this method, but it will take off a bit of weight and get you motivated to lose more.

Walnuts are great snacks for people trying to lose weight. Eating walnuts in the morning is shown to help you feel full longer. Walnuts are great for snacking on.

TIP! Try creating new weight loss habits versus trying to stop harmful weight loss habits. Focus on positive changes so that you can remain on your diet.
