Weight Watchers – New Year – New Points

Weight Watchers members have started their new year with a new Weight Watcher program promoting out with the old points and in with the new Points Plus.  Weight Watchers has said that the program is based on the changes in dieting in the past 10 years. They also say this program is a completely new and encourage members to just cut the cord on last years points and embrace and entirely new way – the Points Plus way.

In the past Weight Watchers had encouraged members to use their points on anything they liked to eat and reminded them of some core foods to add to their diets. The old points were calculated by a Weight Watcher formula that took into account a foods calories, fat and carbohydrates. Now Weight Watchers has tossed the old points calculator and focus has turned to fat, carbohydrates, fiber and protein.

Since the protein and fiber full foods have lower points values, Weight Watchers is gently nudging their members to eat a healthier balance of foods focusing on fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Fruits and non-starchy vegetables are now zero Points Plus value something members are very excited about.

But the change in Points Plus is not changing the way Weight Watchers works. Members can still rely on the support from weekly meetings or a growing online community. Online tracking can now sync with an application for their handheld phones.

The new program could be the breakthrough you have been looking for. With tracking Points that focus your attention to the right foods or in Weight Watchers’ case Power Foods, the members are armed with support, tools for behavior modification and a new method of tracking their calorie intake and helping them make better choices. The program is still flexible with an extra 49 points to spend weekly on indulgences or treats.

The New Year is a time when many like to change their habits and start a new diet. Weight Watchers is a diet that works and following its new Points Plus program could help their members lose weight faster than ever before.
