Three Essential Points For Successful Fat Loss

When you are trying to lose fat, there are always certain areas of your body that seem more "stubborn" in losing fat than others. Men usually struggle with their abdomen, chest or lower back, while for women the problem tends to lie with their hips, thighs, abdomen or arms.

To rectify these problem areas, most people would rely on exercising the area of their bodies where they would like the fat to be removed from. In reality, trying to remove fat from specific areas of your body by doing set after set of exercises for that area just doesn't work.

Simply put, fat cells in different parts of your body behave differently. Research shows that you don't have much control over which parts of your body you lose fat from. So, what should you do if you want to lose fat from your hips, belly, chest or arms?

- Firstly, you'll have to exercise. No getting around that. But instead of spending all your energy on exercising just the part you want to lose fat from, you'll need to choose the correct exercise program. Just doing hours of cardiovascular exercise will not burn enough calories to have a significant effect on your fat loss.

As fitness author, Mike Geary, points out: "Abdominal exercises do not burn fat away from your abs! This can only be accomplished through a much more effective full-body training routine that maximizes both your metabolic response and your hormonal response to your workouts."

- You'll also need to eat correctly. Remember that the process of losing fat requires that you take in fewer calories than you burn. No matter how much you exercise, you'll not lose a significant amount of fat if you consume a surplus of calories.

- Finally, you will need to be consistent in your weight-loss plan. Regular exercise and correct eating will have to become a habit. There is no "quick fix" for losing weight. The only way to get rid of stubborn fat is a combination of hard training, correct nutrition and a good helping of persistence.
