Weight Mastery 101

They're out there: a select group of people comprising maybe 5-10% of the population. You probably know a few. You may see them in restaurants or at work. You may socialize with them on occasion. You may even be married to one or best friends with another.

Who are they?

~They're the people who eat pizza for breakfast or cake for dinner.

~They're the people who eat ice cream, donuts, steaks and fries...and never gain a pound.

~They're the people who say things like "I just couldn't gain weight if I tried!" or, "I don't really want the rest of my hot fudge sundae.

~They're the people who order the toffee-dripping, apple-cinnamon cheesecake and then proceed to enjoy it fully with no proper hint of shame whatsoever.

~They are usually more interested in living life and having fun than in counting calories or waiting until they've lost weight to fit into that bathing suit.

~They're the people who eat whatever they want, whenever they want, and still stay naturally, beautifully slim.

I call them Weight Masters.

And in this diet-crazed, low-carb, low-fat, liposuctioned world, they're a dying breed.

They're a dying breed because, the way we're going in North America, most people will struggle with their weight for the rest of their lives.

Why will most people struggle with food?

Because we're missing the point. Because the diet industry is a multi-billion dollar industry and you can bet it's going to stay that way by doing what it's been doing for years: pumping out more diet fads, more diet foods, more diet "packages" for you to try. Because the information that's out there on losing weight doesn't address the real problem.

So what's the real problem?

The real problem is not that we're overweight. The extra weight is just a symptom of the problem. The main problem is this:

We're focusing on the food and not on ourselves.

Natural weight mastery has little to do with food: low-carb or high-carb, chocolate cake or grilled vegetables, low fat or high fat. Food is just an inanimate object. It can't hurt us without our permission.

The real issue is our relationships: with food, with others and, most of all, with ourselves. We are not listening to our bodies! We're eating from our mind and our emotions. We don't trust our bodies. We don't even realize that they can best tell us what they need!

It's almost as if this giant invisible axe has come along and severed our heads from our bodies, cutting off the communication between the two.

In order to be truly successful in the weight-loss process, we have to focus on the individual person, NOT the food.

Listening to your body is a skill to be developed for most of us, even though it's a natural skill that we're born with. Most of us have to relearn this skill in order to get back to the naturally slim person we are inside.

That's really what Weight Mastery is all about--mastering the natural skills you were born with so that you can be at the exact weight you want. Once you've done this you no longer have to rely on outside sources like diets, fancy exchange plans or weight-loss gurus.

It is possible for anyone.
