How to Dine and Still Lose Weight

     You want to lose weight. You want to buy healthy foods to help you lose some fat. You are still eating the fried chicken and French fries that makes you fat. It's not hard to make the transition.

You may eat a lot of healthy foods to lose weight, they contain:

1. Chicken and Fish - Either bake or broil your meat. Chicken and Fish are great sources of protein. Attempt to have fish twice a week. Fish contains some healthy fats.

2. Add more Fruits and Vegetables to your diet. Fruits and vegetables are loaded with vitamins and nutrients for your system, and they contain no fat. You could bring vegetables to your sandwiches and dinner plate. Finally, you can have some fruit for dessert.

3. Add the healthy carbohydrates to your diet. Whole grain or 100% whole wheat bread and pasta, brown rice, quinoa and barley include these healthy carbohydrates. Try to avoid the bad carbohydrates including white flour, white sugar and white rice. The carbohydrates have few nutrients and digest quickly - having spikes in the blood sugar and energy levels.

4. Add fat-free or skim milk to your diet. Try also buying fat free cheese. The regular milk carries fat, which could keep you from losing weight.

How Do You Start Making Changes?

You can make changes by starting slow to lose weight. If you are used to fried chicken; then, shifting to baked chicken could take a little time. You can try to adjust your diet and make good substitutions.

Eating Healthy is a course for life. Try to look at these changes as an opportunity to feel and look better. You need to be comfortable with the change.

Why Water?

Water helps to flush out your system. You need water for your muscles and digestive system. Drink water, since it is zero calories and may help your body lose weight.

If you are hungry at a restaurant, drink some water. Water may terminate that hungry feeling and keep you full. You can avoid the bread and rolls that many restaurants serve at the beginning of the meal.

What about Healthy Fats?

You want to bring Healthy fats to your diet. They contain:

- Monounsaturated Fats like canola oil, olive oil and peanut oil. You could also get these fats in avocados and nuts.

- Polyunsaturated Fats - found in salmon, herring, sardines and anchovies.

What Should You Avoid?

You want to avoid:

1. Sugar in cakes, donuts, pastries and sodas, and

2. Salt in processed foods, cold cuts, canned food and frozen TV Dinners. Excess salt possibly could induce high blood pressure.

How Do You Put All This Together?

You want to plan your meals. Try planning your meals for the week. This way, you can put in some healthy food and start making changes.

Start off out with a good breakfast. Then, have smaller meals throughout the day. Figure on three meals and two snacks. By eating more frequently, you have less chance to be hungry.

We Are All Not Perfect!

As much as you try, you will still have that donut and fried chicken. It happens. Just don't trouble yourself about it and continue your healthy eating.

Even your food may be imperfect. You may need white rice for a recipe. A little white rice will not harm your healthy eating.
