Snacking on unhealthy food while you are at home is a big reason why so many of us are heavier than we'd like to be. So the first thing to do is to get rid of all those unhealthy snacks. Take them out, and throw them in the garbage, or feed them to your cat, or whatever. Next time you feel like snacking, and all the cookies are gone, then you will be forced to eat something else.

Whenever you go to the store, stick to buying food that is healthy. This is tough to do when you are hungry, so never go shopping on an empty stomach. At least drink a big glass of water before you go. Also, it can help to make a list before you go, and stick to that list. That way, you won't be persuaded by all the boxes of snacks and candy and all the other things at the store that make you fat.

As mentioned above, drinking water can help fill you up. If you drink water before you eat, and drink plenty of water while you eat, it will help you to not eat so much. If you want to add some extra kick, put in an ounce of lemon juice for every liter of water. This will make it taste better, causing you to drink more, and it will also help to fill you up due to the citric acid in the lemon juice.

If you eat too fast, you are likely to eat too much. Take your time, and eat slowly. Try switching hands, and hold your fork in your left hand. If you really want to eat slowly, try eating everything with chopsticks. Once you get good at eating with chopsticks switch to using only your left hand.

If you drink any soda, stop. There is absolutely nothing good in soda. It's just carbonated sugar water. Even diet soda is filled with chemicals, and has been linked to obesity. Stick to plain water, and you'll be fine.

Of course, exercise is important, but don't overdo it. Just stick to walking three or four times a week. All you need is a decent pair of shoes, and you're ready to go.

These basic tips will certainly help you to lose weight. Just carefully weave them into your lifestyle, and before you know it, you'll be as healthy as ever.
