Reaching Your Full Potential on an Elliptical

Riding on an elliptical can be a great workout or it can be a workout that is not very beneficial. When you are on an elliptical it will be totally and completely up to you to make sure that you are getting a good workout.

Before you even step on the machine you have to make sure that you have completed some of your workout. There are integral steps to your workout that should be done before you get on the machine.

First, you should make sure that you stretch all of your muscles. Adequately stretching will ensure that you are able to get all of the muscles that you are pushing to a new limit during your workout all warmed up.

As you are warming up your muscles you have to make sure that you are not being too easy for yourself. There are a lot of people that do not understand what they should be doing during the time that they set aside for stretching.

You have to make sure that you are pushing your muscles to a new limit. When you are able to push your muscles to a new limit while you are stretching you will soon be able to notice a difference in your workout.

Second, you want to make sure that you are doing a light warm up to make sure that you are getting all of the blood flowing. A light warm up may just mean a jog around your home or around the gym.

If you are going to do a light workout on your elliptical you have to make sure that you are not pushing yourself too hard. This part of the workout is only meant to make sure that your muscles are warm and the blood is flowing through all of your muscles.

After you have finished your warm up and your stretching you can then move into your workout. When you are able to move into your workout with this transition your workout will be much more beneficial for your muscles.

When you start your workout you should make sure that you know what you are on the machine to accomplish. Your vision should be focused on a goal that you have set for yourself for this single individual workout.

As you are taking the time to understand what you need from your workout you have to consider what your big goal is. When you are able to take the time to set goals for yourself you will be much more effective during your workout.

Right after you turn the machine on it will ask you for some of your personal information. This can be something that is embarrassing for some people to type in but it is important to put in your correct information.

The machine is designed to keep you within your target heart rate zone. This zone is a range of heart rates that has been set out by doctors to make sure that you are working hard enough to burn the maximum amount of calories but not too hard to hurt your heart.

When you enter in your information correctly the machine will be able to keep you at your correct heart rate. Throughout the workout the machine will ask to take your heart rate so it can make your workout appropriately difficult.

If the machine is able to take your heart rate it will be able to adjust to your intensity appropriately. You will be able to get a lot more out of your workout if you stay within your target heart rate zone.

Finally, when you are done working out you have to make sure that you are letting your body cool down before you get off of the machine. When you can cool down your muscles will be able to begin their recovery.

When you are working out on the machine you will be making tiny microscopic tears in your muscles. These tears will be the only way that you will be able to start gaining more muscle mass and muscle strength.

If you step onto your elliptical machine you have to make sure that you are taking the time to put in a good workout. There are a lot of people that do not understand how far they will be able to push themselves so they never achieve their potential.

After you step on to the elliptical make sure that you are pushing yourself to make your workout well worth your time.
