How to Get a Flat Stomach by Exercising

You need to know how to get a flat stomach when incorporating exercises into your life. I say this because if you do not know how to flatten your stomach you will not know which exercises are beneficial and which are low intensity workouts and therefore pretty much a waste of your time.

When a lot of people think of stomach exercises, they instantly think of sit-ups, not being aware that performing sit-ups is not going to give them the flat tummy that they desire. After some time of trying to stick to this exercise and not seeing any results, they either quit or search for a (gimmick) product that will somehow make sit-ups more effective. You absolutely must be aware of certain facts about stomach exercises so you can flatten it effectively, and not waste your time on ineffective exercises.

There are two types of exercises that you should be performing to flatten your stomach.

Cardiovascular Exercise

Cardio (or aerobic) exercises are a must if you want to flatten your stomach as this is the best way to burn body fat efficiently. Cardio exercises are exercises which require you to perform for 20-30 minutes without the use of heavy weights. Examples of cardio exercises are swimming, skipping and running. These types of exercises use the fat reserves in your body as energy when performing, which is why the term burn the fat was coined - because fat is used as fuel when performing cardio exercises.

Strength Training

Also known as resistance training, this is another way for you to flatten you stomach, but using a different approach to cardio exercises. Whilst you use cardio workouts to lose fat, strength training is used to strengthen your muscles, and/or make them bigger (an increase of muscle mass). You absolutely do not have to use huge machinery to strengthen your muscles - simply performing stomach crunches is a good start.

The combination of these two ways of exercising is best if you want to flatten your stomach. Cardiovascular exercises will help you lose the fat, and strength training exercises will help strengthen your abdominals and tone your stomach.

So now you are consciously aware of how to get a flat stomach with exercises. Depending on how intense you want to work out, you may want to perform a cardio exercise (or two) twice a week, and then strength training once a week, or vice versa. I highly recommend that you also continue to educate yourself on how to flatten your stomach as the more you are consciously aware of, the longer you will keep your figure and not slip back into a lack of exercise in your life.
