Lose those Love Handles in Weeks!

Love handles? All too many of us have them and they can be a real drag on your self esteem. These are those areas of flab on your sides (anatomically known as obliques). They are also one of the most stubborn areas. They seem to stay there, no matter how slim you get or how toned the rest of your body may be. Try as you might, they just stay right there. It is frustrating, to say the least. Isn't there anything you can do to rid yourself of these unsightly pockets of flab? Thankfully, you can in fact get rid of your love handles and achieve that firm, toned torso that you've always wanted for yourself. You'll look and feel better when you follow these steps to lose the love handles.

First of all, you will need to eat a good, healthy, balanced diet. You can't lose fat, especially love handles unless you are eating a proper diet. This is an essential part of losing your love handles and getting into better overall shape. This is advice which is useful to anyone interested in better health, whether or not weight loss is their particular goal.

Also, you will have to engage in some form of regular aerobic exercise in order to maintain good overall fitness and help to burn off fat including those troublesome love handles! You don't have to run yourself ragged; even low impact aerobic exercise, if practiced on a regular basis will go a long way towards your goal of keeping shape and of course, toning those obliques. You could consider bicycling, calisthenics or even walking. Just make sure that whichever type of exercise you choose to do, make it a regular habit at least half an hour every day. You could accomplish this easily by (if this is an option) biking to work instead of driving or taking public transit, taking a long walk after work or over your lunch break or other ways. Use your creativity here to find a form of regular aerobic exercise which fits into your schedule and your lifestyle.

I can hear you out there. You're probably saying "OK, that's all well and good. I know that I need to get regular exercise but I though there would be some tips here about losing those love handles once and for all!". Well fear not, there are some exercises for you which can help you to tone those obliques and stop feeling so self conscious about your body. Read on for five exercises which, in conjunction with a healthy diet and regular exercise, can get your obliques trim and fit.

1) Lunge with rotation Stand with your feet as wide apart as your hips and hold a dumbbell with both hands, stretching them out in front of you. Put your right foot three feet ahead of you and bend your knees 90 degrees, lunging forward. While you do this, keep your hands together and twist your torso (and the dumbbell) to the right. 2) Deadlift - Keep your feet flat underneath the bar and squat down, gripping the bar with your hands about as wide as your shoulders you can use an overhand or mixed grip here. Extend your hips and knees to lift the bar and pull your shoulders back as you lift the bar. Return to the starting position and repeat.

3) Weighted Squat Using a dip belt, place a weight around your waist. Step up onto two benches (boxes work too if you don't have benches handy) with one foot on each. Extend your arms in front of you. Squat down until your thighs are slightly more than parallel to the floor. Return to starting position and repeat.

4) Russian Twist This one is a little tougher; take it easy with this one unless you are already used to abdominal exercises. Lay on the floor, face up with your feet under something which will not move; a bed or dresser work well. Put you palms together and stretch them straight up in the air. If desired, you can hold a weight between your hands ? somewhere between five and twenty pounds works well. Keep your hips stationary and rotate your shoulders 90 degrees to one side, then the other. Repeat.

5) Plank with Rotation Start in the same position as you would for a sit-up. Slowly, rotate your entire body to the right, bringing your right leg behind you and lifting your right arm towards the ceiling. Return to starting position and switch to the other side. Repeat a few times on each side.

Regularly practiced along with regular aerobic exercise and diet, these exercises can help you to lose those love handles in a matter of weeks! Yes, you can still get to the beach this summer; and look great doing it!
