Brushing your teeth after each meal is great for your smile, but more importantly, that fresh, clean feeling sends signals to your body that the time to eat is over. You won抰 be as likely to put those little fat-building snacks in your mouth between meals, and you can be sure to be cavity free!

2. Many people underestimate the importance of water. Water is necessary for your body to function properly, and you need at least a few glasses of water a day to give your body what it needs. Water can also help you lose weight. By replacing all of those soft drinks and coffees throughout the day with water, you can eliminate as many as 245 needless calories or more from your diet. Water also does a good job of flushing from your body toxins and excess waste that it doesn抰 need. You抣l also find yourself with more energy for longer periods of time, and you won抰 find yourself hit with thirst so often.

3. Breakfast is a very important meal, and as you can guess, is the one most likely to be skipped on by Americans. We generally have busy mornings and opt to pass up on breakfast for a little more sleep or time to ourselves in the morning. This is a very bad thing, because this means our appetites will be greater throughout the rest of the day, and the later in the day you eat, the less time you give your body to burn off the calories. Eating in the evening causes your body to have to store all of that food away as fat, which puts on the pounds. Spend a little extra time in the morning eating a big, healthy breakfast, and you抣l find that you actually can lose weight by eating!

4. Have you ever left the table feeling so stuffed that you felt like someone could easily roll you down the stairs? If so, you抮e not alone ?Americans today eat not to satisfy our hunger but to fill ourselves to the brim with food. This is obviously a problem, and one that absolutely has to be solved before you can expect to drop and weight. A big step is to cut your mealtime portions. When you get your plate, go ahead and remove about a third or so of that food. It may seem horrible, but if you do it for a few days you抣l notice that you really don抰 miss that food at all, and you抣l actually feel better and have more energy.

5. Walking is a great way to burn fat. First off, try to find any way you can to walk a little more each day. Take the long way around the building instead of cutting through it, take the stairs over the escalator, anything you can to add a few steps to your trip. As a start, make sure to get at least 30 minutes of uninterrupted walking a day. This is about how much it takes the average person to maintain their current weight. To drop a few of those pounds, try to get at least 45 per day. Walking for long periods is great for the body, and causes the body to burn unwanted fat as an energy source.

Weight loss is built up to be much more of a challenge than it really is. You need to know that the trick to weight loss lies in all of the small things that you can do every day. Those little things add up and really make a difference, and are what will truly pull you through. Make yourself a goal, and stick with it, and you抣l find a slimmer, happier you.
