Getting Into Shape And Getting Healthy

If you look at the collective goals of everyone in the USA, you'll probably see one that is more common than anything else. That is to get in shape. Obesity is at an all-time high, and countless people die from preventable heart disease every day. Being in shape should be the standard, but sadly it isn't. So if you've decided to set yourself apart by being in shape, you should stick with it. You'll be a happier person because of it, and you'll prevent many health problems that plague those who are inactive and overweight.

Some people remain overweight because of their love of food. It's possible to continue loving food and be in good shape. In fact, some of the biggest meals I've ever seen humans eat were eaten by athletes and weightlifters. Food contains energy, and you have to put that energy to use. Weightlifting is a great way to use energy and improve your physique at the same time. With a few dumbbells of various weights, and a little bit of creativity, you can work out every muscle in your body from the comfort of your own home. Want to watch a movie? Great! Just do situps, pushups, barbell curls, and military presses while you watch.

In case you needed even more motivation to get in shape, consider the mental benefits. The human body functions optimally when it exerts large amounts of energy. It would seem that humans are naturally meant to exercise and spend energy. When you take a run every day and lift weights, swim, or do any other laborious exercise, you'll notice a heightened mental state. Generally you'll be able to think clearer, and you'll be happier overall. Many sleep problems are attributed to a lack of exercise. If you wear out your body thoroughly during the day, you'll sleep like a baby at night.

So don't live an unhealthy lifestyle for even 1 day longer. Living a stagnant and inactive lifestyle is like torturing your own body; it hurts you, and it may just kill you. So set your alarm clock 30 minutes early tomorrow, and have a nice run before doing your day's activities. Swim laps at the local pool. Get some dumbbells and start doing weight training. Do situps while you watch TV, or get off the computer every 15 minutes and do 20 pushups. It doesn't matter what you do, just do something.
