Featured Top New Year’s Resolution for 2016: Losing Weight

Losing weight is the top New Year’s resolution of Americans for 2016, the Marist Poll reports.  The poll

The survey was conducted December 1 to 7, and 1,517 American adults were asked on what their resolutions for 2016 will be.

As a recap, they also did a survey for 2015, where the number of people who made resolutions for the New Year was at 64 percent.

Losing weight was the top choice last year, with 13 percent.

This 2016, becoming a healthier person is still the fad, with losing weight winning above the rest.  This may be because of the usual body-image issues that faces the world today, but above all else, maintaining or getting a healthier body weighs more than gold.

For next year, 39 percent are likely to make a new year’s resolution, while 61 percent will not.

Losing weight became the top pick, with 12 percent of those who will most likely make a resolution.  In line with health, nine percent wants to exercise more, nine percent also wants to stop smoking, and eight percent wants to eat healthier.  Nine percent gave a vague response of improving their health.  A minimal two percent vowed to stop drinking.

Some made financial promises.  Ten percent vows to get a better job, seven percent wants to spend less and save more, one percent wants to get a new house.

Others wanted to travel, at one percent, set goals, two percent, be kinder to others, at one percent, go back school, at three percent, and become a better person for eight percent.

The respondents’ answers do vary, according to gender, age, income, education, and regional differences, but the top pick remains the same.

It seems that Americans have a clear view of the meaning of a healthy body, but they are also keen on keeping a healthy mind.  This combination is an investment to have a well-lived life.

Have a Healthy and Prosperous New Year to all!
