Pour this into your cocktail shaker and give it a good shaking. Strain into a tall glass before adding a bit of mint to top it off, and some crushed ice. Simple isn't it?

Watermelon Cocktail with Orange Concentrate and Basil

Watermelon is a great way to include flavor, natural sweetness and abundant juicy content. The orange will give your cocktail a nice twist when it comes to including its sharp flavorsome mass. You can always replace the orange juice with orange flavored rum, and include just the rind bit as directed in the recipe below.

What You'll Need
  • 1 cup of watermelon blocks (with seeds intact)
  • 1 large orange
  • 1 shot glass worth of white rum (any brand will do)
  • 1 basil leaf
  • A pinch of orange rind
Method of Preparation

Dunk into a food processor the watermelon blocks, along with your freshly squeezed orange juice, making sure all that flaky pulp gets in as well. Get the processor going in 2 powerful bursts 4 seconds apart, dunking its contents into a cocktail shaker once you're done. Take a grater, and graze the rind of the orange, using as little as a pinch of it to flavor it up and add in your rum shot. Seal off your cocktail shaker, and give it a nice shaking to blend all those flavors together. Strain into a tall glass, and top it off with basil - before you place it in the cocktail, put the basil leaf in the palm of your hand and give it one hard smack with your other hand; this releases its flavor. Enjoy your tart-y melon drink.

These low-calorie mixed drinks will have you enjoying your very own cocktail blends at home, where you can always call over guests to try out your creations. Experiment with flavors and other add-ons besides mint, olives and basil, like maybe flavored essence if you want to make a non fat creamy meld that includes a coffee touch to it. It's all about how to put two and two together, to bring out healthy cocktail mixes that won't make you worry about your weight. Drink up!
