5 Methods To Detoxify Your Body And Become Healthier

There is no question that toxins are more prevalent in today's world than ever before. We are adding toxins to our bodies on a daily basis. It is important to find a safe way to eliminate these harmful chemicals as quickly as we are adding them. Fortunately there are several methods that are effective.

Lets pick a letter from the alphabet. How about "B". OK for starters Butylparaben, Benzene, Bentonite, BHA, BHT, Bronopol and Benzoic Acid are regularly added to our food water and/or air. They may not be common parts of our conversation but they are commonly in our environment. It is depressing to even think about the other 25 letters of the alphabet and their associated chemicals.

The good news is that our bodies do a pretty good job of getting rid of toxins naturally. Our kidneys, livers and excretory systems (including sweating) effectively filter out most of the unhealthy chemicals we take in. It becomes a problem when these natural detoxification systems are overloaded and are not effective enough. Respiratory, digestive and other serious health problems can result.

There are several methods of detoxification that can help our natural systems cope including: 1-Changes in the foods we eat 2-Using various Herbal body wraps 3-Taking Special Herbal supplements 4-Regimented Cleansing Plans 5-Using a Sauna on a regular basis

1-Often people will change their diets either temporarily or for extended periods of time in an attempt to cleanse their systems. Many of the toxins we accumulate come from the food we eat. Processed foods are famous for their toxic content but even more natural foods like fruits and vegetables contain pesticides, herbicides and artificial hormones among other things.

Many detox diets consist of fasting, eating more organic whole foods including mostly vegetables and drinking lots of pure fluids especially water. These diets will flush out your system but should be used only for short periods of time. It is not recommended that anyone maintains these eating habits for extended periods of time. Some of the essential nutrients needed for a healthy diet are missing and need to be replaced after a detoxification style diet.

2-Herbal body wraps usually consist of covering your body some mixture that includes clay, salts, water and a few other ingredients like oils. The idea is that the salt draws water from the skin bringing the toxins with it. The toxins are drawn out of the cells when cellular fluid is removed from the cells to replace the excessive amount of water being pulled from the skin.

Participants cover themselves with the detox recipe for a period of time in the hopes that the harmful chemicals are removed. Further in this article I will discuss a more efficient method to achieve the same result but for now it should be pointed out that it is important to replace the lost fluids fairly quickly. Simply drinking plenty of water will do the trick. The fact is that drinking water is one of the best things you can do for your health anyway.

3-Taking pills to supply your body with herbal supplements is another common detoxifying technique. Upping the level of specific vitamins, antioxidants and minerals can benefit the way your body works. More efficient toxin removal through excretion can be a result. Altering the basic chemistry of your body can become a fairly tricky business. Having a thorough understanding of the complete process is important before you start down the path of using herbal supplements to cleanse your body. Consulting your doctor is always a good idea before starting a detoxification program but is especially important when choosing to detox with supplements. Internet research is helpful but no substitute for a doctors advise.

4-Some people go to a spa or seek out an established program when they want to use a tissue cleansing plan. Many plans consist of regimented daily schedules of enemas then cleansing drinks and liquid supplements. This series is repeated periodically during the day. Lasting a week or more, this method obviously takes commitment, dedication and a carefully calculated program. You need to be sure the program comes from a reputable source and is administered with sufficient guidance.

5-My favorite (probably because it is the easiest) involves using a sauna for detoxification. The excretory system is the main toxin removal system of the body. Most people immediately think about solid and liquid urine removal when they think about the excretory system. The fact is that the sweating process also removes surprisingly large amounts of fluid from your body. Increasing the sweating process efficiently increases the amount of fluids removed from the cell. The toxins are not only flushed out at the same time but the rate at which they are removed increases the more you sweat. This happens because the toxins become more concentrated as the cellular fluids are reduced. Saunas are an effective way to produce the excessive sweating that is required to draw out the toxins.

The first fluids removed in sweat is the fluids found surrounding the cells. As that non-cellular fluid is reduced it is replaced with inner-cellular fluids. These are the fluids with highly concentrated amounts of toxins. When this fluid is "sweated out" so are the toxins.

All of these body cleansing detoxification methods work and have their own advantages and disadvantages. The one that is best is, as they say "the one that you will actually use". Today's home sauna options offer such surprisingly low cost and ease of operation that it is no wonder they are becoming the method of choice for so many families. This method is much less harsh and more enjoyable than any of the others. In fact I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say that it is the only body cleansing mentioned that anyone would do even if it didn't have the detoxification benefits.
