Fad Diet Junkie

Are you overweight but don’t know how it happened? Are you thinking back over the years of diets you have tried and wonder what went wrong why wasn’t it working for you? Do you start a diet with unrealistic goals? Do you try all the latest so called celebrity diets? If this is you then you are what I like to call a “fad diet junkie”. First I must tell you there is nothing wrong with you there is just something wrong with your approach to losing weight.

What is a “fad diet junkie”? To put it plain and simple it is a person who tries out every diet on the market which usually consists of a diet that is too extreme in one way or another. Sure, at first things are going great you are feeling good and you plan to stick with it. Eventually the diet will take a toll on you and you will give up, until the next big thing hits the market.

Each time you take on the next weight loss fad you make it that much easier for your body to gain even more weight. In addition to the extra pounds there are serious health risks associated with extreme diets such as nutritional deficiencies, eating disorders, and vital organ damage to name a few.

When you are on an extreme diet you are more than likely restricting the types of foods you eat. Doing this can put you at risk for iron, vitamin b12, potassium, and sodium deficiencies. The most dangerous here is potassium and sodium deficiencies. If these levels are too low you can suffer from a heart attack.

These diets are extremely damaging to your heart, kidneys, liver, and brain. Your organs need carbohydrates in order to function properly. If you are restricting your intake of carbohydrates your organs will start to burn muscle to gain the energy they need to perform vital functions. Over time your body could start to burn up the muscle tissue that makes up your organs, this can lead to liver failure, kidney failure, and again heart attacks.

This trend can all weigh heavily on your mind which can lead to depression and eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.

As I said before there is nothing wrong with you. In this day and age it is getting harder and harder to make a realistic decision when it comes to choosing the diet that is right for you. Everyone is made differently therefore the general fad diet will not work for just anyone. You are faced with mind blowing ads of weight loss success which is intriguing to our instant gratification factor in us all.

Losing weight isn’t driven by cutting out foods, eating one type of food, taking pills, drinking juices, or fasting. Losing weight is about figuring out what is right for your lifestyle and getting it to work for you. With the proper weight loss plan, motivation, support, and guidance you can achieve your weight loss goal without risking your health.
