You Have Fat Burning Factory Workers In Your Body - Are You Using Them?

This sort of advertising always gets our attention, 'lose thirty pounds by summer', 'fabulous thighs in 9 minutes a week', or 'diets of the stars'. But they compete not only for our attention but our dollars as our body weight has become a global obsession.

With all this attention on it you would think that we would have got on top of the battle of the bulge. But in fact the reverse is true. Never before in the history of mankind have there been so many people overweight. Two thirds of us are now larger and heavier than we should be.

It is strange that we now know that 95 percent of diets fail yet we continue to keep trying to make them work. You could liken it to filling up the swimming pool with the hose running in one end and you are at the other with a bucket trying to empty it... futile.

The reason that diets fail is because we cannot maintain eating like that for the long term and a long term solution is the ONLY one that is going to work. No short term solution can possibly give long term results.

Before you get your weight under control there are certain basic fundamentals about your eating that you will need to learn to reverse your overweight problem. The very first lesson that you have to learn is that you need to burn more fuel (calories) than you are taking in each day. And this is the best place to start.

The easiest way to achieve this is to speed your metabolism. This is your body's engine and the rate that your body burns fuel (calories). The only way to speed it up is to get as much toned muscle tissue on your body as possible. Your body weight is made up of 50 percent muscle tissue and this is highly active tissue burning loads of energy.

It is likely that you have become overweight by letting your muscle tissue become weak and flabby, losing its tone therefore burning less fuel. And guess where the excess is now going? Yes, right on your tummy and backside and anywhere else it can be stored.

And this situation will keep on happening and you will continue to get larger and heavier unless you intervene and take action. To reverse this situation you need to get those muscles toned back up and give your fat burning machinery a rev up. The only way to do this is to get started on a strength training program so you can work those muscles through their ranges of movement under a load.

Forget your long, slow recreational activity like walking, jogging or cycling as this won't do it. You must expect it to be a bit harder than this. If it were this easy we would not have a global overweight epidemic happening. After all we all have legs and we all walk but this will not help you lose weight.

The introduction of a strength training program may be enough to start the long slow journey back to slimness. You might have to get your head around the fact that unless you want to be overweight for the rest of your life you will need to keep those muscles strong and toned.

Think of them like factory workers, gobbling up those bulges on your mid section and hips. They are your friends and if you look after them they will in return work hard for you and give you what you would really like...a strong, lean, slim healthy body to live in for the rest of your life.
