5 Weight Loss Tips You Should Ignore

When it comes to weight loss, there’s no one, clear path to walk. All of the answers are not neatly wrapped into one little package and dropped at your door. Because of that, there’s a lot of routes and a lot of opinions that make the journey a bit confusing. Doing your research is a great thing, but be careful what you take into consideration, because while it might sound good, it’s not always correct. Here are five pieces of advice you should steer clear of.

1. Get rid of your scale

This advice comes from the fact that your weight in numbers isn’t always correlated with what you’ve achieved. You may often get discouraged if the numbers aren’t dropping, but if you’ve taken on an intense exercise regimen, often times your muscle will build up, while your fat decreases. Since muscle weighs more than fat, the scale may not budge like you want it to!

With that said, you shouldn’t get rid of your scale because you have a fear of disappointment. Take into consideration the factors and move forward from there. Don’t let the scale win.

2. Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels

Negative reinforcement is not the way to go. Creating self-love will help you to feel empowered and positive. If you feel good about what you’re doing, you’ll stick to it longer. If you stick quotes on your refrigerator that remind you not to eat, you’re liking to get down on yourself and give up.

3. Make Sunday your cheat day

Depriving yourself of any sort of craving for six straight days and binge eating for a full day does not allow for a healthy relationship with food.

4. Stick to three meals a day and avoid snacking

Doing this will cause overeating. Grazing throughout the day keeps your metabolism up, and your portions in check.

5. Wait for the right moment

Making excuses as to when is a good time to lose weight is just prolonging the process. Stop thinking about it and just do it!
