Obesity In Children - The Prevention And Cause

"Even by looking around us - in our families, neighborhood, schools, and play parks - it is an obvious sight to see children nowadays are getting obese. Years ago, babies were just fat and as they grew older, these kids tend to shun away from their fat bodies towards a slimmer profile. Fat kids before were usually made fun of with some other kids.

Chubby children find it hard to mingle with others of the same age bracket because they are being bullied all the time and they find it hard to participate in games. But nowadays the scenario has spiraled into a body ballooning for fat kids. They have gone up into the obese level. It will result on many known body complaints or diseases triggered by obesity. Aside from the health risk, personality depression can be also an effect from obesity. Obesity can be caused by various symptoms like the following:

1. Genetic factors - Children coming from families with a history of obesity or those prone to be slothful have the tendency to be obese. Aside from the genetic make-up on the inherited body type, an inherited body movement such as being on the lazy side can be a factor for getting obese.

2. Environmental factors - Poor eating habits, potato coach habit, passive lifestyle, and presence of unhealthful food allowed in the family environment can lead to a child's obesity.

3. Psychological factors - Unmonitored emotional responses by a child to his daily experiences, negative in nature, can lead to a massive food indulgence. Such negative emotions may be related to frustration, sadness, boredom, and anger.

The behavior of children at home should be monitored by parents. Are they spending their off-school hours lulling in their bedrooms or sitting in front of the television or computer? Worse, do they bring food while doing these, food rich in sugar, carbohydrates or soda?

Parents should be able to know when satiety level is attained normally by children of the kid's age. Involving the kids in household chores and plan family activities that would engage everyone to exercise or move the body about is ideal. Always prepare nutritious meals at home that have a good visual presentation to tempt a child's appetite. Don't stock a lot of junk foods at home. Talk to your children and discover what emotional burdens they may have to avoid their unhealthful food craving. Be sensitive to your child's activity and eating habits to so that they won't become obese.
