Pain from Magnesium

Question
I had gastric bypass  surgery 11 years ago. Now I have a on going pain that抯 goes on in my sided, stomach, back. After months of this pain they found that I had a really bad infection, gave me cephalexin, but the pain stayed they ran blood all the test and a X ray and decided that pain is caused from being backed up. They said the X Ray showed That I had so much poop there that it was just jammed in there you could get anything more in there. Mind you I go to the bathroom every day. So they told me to drink MAGNESIUM CITRATE. I drank one bottle and with in three minute the pain was so bad I wanted to die. It was like someone throw lighter flute and lite it down me. It only lasts half hour and I was ok, but I still had paid so I tried again. They said it may take two bottles. So it will help for a few days but I can抰 keep drinking that stuff. The more I read I抦 not sure my Doctor under standers gastric bypass.
Could this be a leak after all this time? I know you can抰 give medical advice. But I was hoping for your opining Please any ideas?
Thanks for your time Pam

Answer
If there was a leak, it is my understanding that the consequences would be dire.  If you have any thought that it might be a leak, you should see your doctor IMMEDIATELY.  If you have a blockage, as you explain, and the MAG CIT doesn't create any movement in your bowel, you may have an obstruction.  Again, if you think THAT might be the case, you should see your doctor IMMEDIATELY.  I am equipped to give advice to those who have difficulty LIVING after having had gastric bypass.  But, as I've often said, I am not a doctor and cannot give medical advice.  You should seek medical attention Pam.

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but it is the only responsible answer that I can give you.

Please let me know how and when the issue is resolved so that I can recount your experience to others when asked.

Hoping that you clear up this problem,
Steve
