Baby Fat

Question
Hi. I'm only twelve, but I was wondering if I'm ever going to lose the baby fat on me cheeks. I'm like 5'1-5'2, and I weigh 110lbs. I don't like how the fat makes my face look round... It makes me look fatter than I really am, and it takes away from my beauty. I usually work out, and my diet is healthy Monday through Friday. Will I have to wait to reach a certain age before it's gone, or can I do something about it?

Answer
Body image is a person's subjective concept of his/her appearance. It is what we imagine we look like to those around us; it is what we imagine we look like to ourselves. How you see yourself reflects back to the self-love concept. You are ever so young and still have many growing experiences yet ahead. Your body will continue to change and develop as your hormones develop. It sounds like you are on a healthy path. I believe I was your weight and height at your age. Keep in mind that you are a gift to those around you. You are unique. You must appreciate your uniqueness and just ask yourself, " how can I love myself more". Keep a journal of your health path and include praise for your accomplishments. Keep a journal of things you are proud of...certificates...awards. Put your arms around you and give yourself a big hug. Keep the company of people who support you and love you. Love who you are, live who you are, and be proud of who you are...because YOU ARE!!!
