A new diet plan

Question
Hi Glen.

Thanks for your valued feedback. I have a few more questions on the subject
of special diets. You mentioned that I should eat foods that have lean
proteins.

1. Can you provide a list of lean proteins?

2. What are complex carbs?

3. What kind of "mixed nut" snack packs can I obtained?

4. What kind of protein drinks do you recommend?

5. Also, do you think I should the following supplements to increase my
alertness such as: Vitamin A, C, E, A B1B2, Irob, Fish Oil, primerose oil,
glutathione glucosamine and chondroitin? Or do you think this is overkill?

Best regards,

Julian

Answer
No problem!
Lean protein:
Chicken breast (boneless skinless)
Fish (such as tuna, flounder, halibut, swordfish and cod to name a few)
Lean Pork (tenderloin is good, so is Loin with the "fat cap" removed)
Lean Beef (sirloin, chuck, tenderloin WELL TRIMMED)
Vegetable proteins like beans and rice

Complex carbohydrates include whole grains, pasta, rice and many others. These are basically any carbohydrate that is processed minimally. White bread, sugar, and honey are examples of "simple carbs".

I purchase cases of individual mixed nut packages from Costco or Sam's club. You can also make your own by simply buying large containers of mixed nuts or whatever kind of nuts you like and "break it down" into small "baggies". Nuts have an added bonus to, your body spends more energy to digest them than you can "extract" from them. This means that you burn calories by eating nuts. Especially peanuts.

For protein drinks, I like "Optimum nutrition" powder, and "Muscle Milk" ready to drink (RTD's) to carry in my gym bag and drink anytime. The first is cheaper and more "shelf stable", the second is handy to have around but run between $2.50-$3 each.

Personally I think that a "multi-vitamin" like GNC "Mega Men's" or "Mega Women's". Fish oil is good for heart health, I have never heard of "primrose oil", and I would use the glucosamine/condroidin if you have joint problems.

Keep in mind this can get uite expensive. I spend roughly $150 per month on supliments.

I hope this helps, let me know if I can assist you further.
