dieting for wedding

Question
Hi.  My name is Jamie and I'm a 24 year old female.  I'm 5'4" and weigh 155 lbs.  I'm getting married next month and apparently bought my wedding dress too early.  Over the past few months, I've gained about 10 lbs and now my dress is a LITTLE too snug.  My wedding is on January 27.  Any suggestions to help me lose 10 lbs fast?  It seems like I've been eating less the past few months, but I've been eating more fatty foods (mostly fast food) from all the wedding planning.  I also haven't really been able to exercise all that much from all the wedding activities as well as working full time and caring for my mom.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.  Thanks.

Answer
Jamie,
OK, since you're getting married soon, I understand why you want to lose a few pounds quickly. The advice I'm going to give you doesn't apply to long term, healthy weight loss, and you're certain to gain everything back on the honeymoon, but here it is.
Starting right now:
1. Lose the carbs. All of them. NO breads, pasta, beans, popcorn, candy, baked goods, NO starchy veggies (like carrots, corn, peas), NO fruit. Start living on bacon, cheese, eggs, and low-carb vegetables like green beans, broccoli, celery, cauliflower, squash. At fast food places, order a bunless burger or a salad with full-fat dressing (NO croutons). For salty snacks, eat nuts or pork rinds. NO CHEATING. After about three or four days of this diet, you'll find your appetite has gone way down and you'll feel satisfied with very little food. It won't be pleasant, but this is the best way to drop 10 pounds in a month. Note that normally your body stores extra sugar in reserve to the tune of about 4 pounds-so the second you start eating carbs again, expect to gain about 4 pounds back within a day or two.
2. Drink tons of water.
3. Do NOT add exercise. If you already exercise, keep doing what you're doing, but don't increase. If you're a couch potato, don't do anything more than 30 minutes of walking a day.
4. Three days before the wedding, cut salt completely out of your diet. This is essentially the poor woman's body wrap-by not eating any salt, your body won't be able to retain water and you'll drop another 2 pounds or so-all water weight, it'll be coming right back.

And if all else fails, go to the back of the lingerie department and investigate body shapers!

Good luck on your wedding!
Melissa
