approval

Question
I was just wondering i'm going to thunder bay in November
for my appointments with the dietitian, social worker, nurse
practitioner and psychologist and Ive been worried they wont
approve me..even tho people keep telling me they will..I'm
5'7" 286 lbs with the bmi of 44.7 i have diabetes,asthma,
high blood pressure and high cholesterol...all in which i'm
on medications for..but when friends look at me they keep
telling me i don't look like i need surgery..i tell them my
weight and they always say oh you don't look that
much..makes me wonder if they are only being nice or if when
people look at me i look smaller and that when i go to meet
with the doctors for approval that they may think the same
and not approve me based on appearance. could you please let
me know if you think with my weight and bmi so high and all
the medical problems i have that they will approve me or
not?

Answer
You don't need to sweat it. You are more than qualified to have surgery.  You need only a bmi of 40 OR a bmi of 35 + significant health issues.  No problem for you at all.

I've seen people much smaller than you get approved. Don't worry at all. Here's one example of the qualifications needed on the Windsor site. You more than qualify.
