gastric sleeve surgery

Question
Is it possible to have the gastric sleeve surgery if i had the Y-and-Roux 5 years ago? I have lost over 100 pounds but have put back on 30 i have done great but i would like to lose more, I'm 5/1 and 205 ponds right now, I should be at 125 or 130 pounds.  Thank you for your help.                                   Sincerely Christine

Answer
It may be an option if your stomach has 'stretched' back to near it's pre-surgery size.  But if that's the case, it is because you are over-eating.  If you are over eating, you have not changed your eating habits.  I would suggest that you get yourself in the right 'frame of mind' before doing anything else.  As your doctor should have said (and probably did say), the surgery is just a tool to help remind you that you should be changing your eating habits.  If you work against 'the tool' by over eating, you'll get just what you should get - weight gain.

So, IF YOU'RE READY TO MAKE A REAL CHANGE, then I suggest that you see your doctor to determine what the options are for any other TOOLS that can help you remember that you're making a life change.

Hope I got the point across.  I've seen this too many times...

Good luck!

Steve
