Recovery from RNY reversal

Question
Hello, I am 6 years post RNY and for the past year have been in and out of the hospital and on TPN due to malnutrition and ulcers.  My surgeon is now suggesting a reversal of the RNY.  In your opinion, if all goes well, what is the "typical recovery" like post reversal surgery?  Is it similar to the original RNY?

Answer
Tina,
Reversal of the gastric bypass is not all that common, so it is hard to talk about a routine outcome.  Nevertheless, as long as there are no complications such as a leak, the reversal ought to have a similar recovery to your gastric bypass.

Best of luck!
