Why butter calories are different from oil calories

Question
Hi Tanya,
It is my understnading that 1 gram of fat has 9 calories. is that correct? but it's also my understanding that some oils have more calories than butter..is this true? how can this be then? or am I confused?

Answer
Hi Jamie,

There is 81 g of total fat in 100 g of butter since it contains in small amounts protein, carbohydrates, calcium and vitamins. On the other hand most oils are 100 percent fat though fatty acids are different for different oils making some of them better for you than the others.
