Question
My 41 year old, 6'2", 225 lb, husband has just joined scuba diving. He has not been very active in the past and our eating habits are not anything to boast about either. Is there a special meal plan he should follow to help ensure he is eating properly for his new work out regime which includes; running, push ups, swimming, breathing underwater and written homework. He has experienced gout, and heel spurs when he was not very active.

Answer
Hello Patti!

Thank you for your nutrition question.  I would recommend that your husband check out www.mypyramid.gov where he can create a healthy eating plan tailored to his calorie needs.  He must simply enter his age, gender, and activity level and it will give him a menu complete with servings from each food group.  He will find this resourse very useful!
