Question
I read in a magazine article that there are more than a handful of women out there drinking as much as 6 cans of (non-diet) pop a day! That can't possibly be healthy!
Are there health risks involved if they continue drinking that much pop, let's say for the next three years or more?
I myself only drink it once in a while.

Answer
Amy,
I am sure there are many people out there that drink that much pop per day.  Yes, there are many health risks that can come from that including obesity!  One can of pop is about 150 calories so multiply that by 6 and that is a lot of extra calories per day!  In addition by drinking so much pop there is a good chance they are crowding out healthier beverages such as juice, water, and milk as well as healthy foods.  They may drink pop as a snack instead of grabbing for a piece of fruit, a low fat yogurt or other healthy snack.
Once in awhile it is fine as long as you are getting in all of the correct nutrition you need and the pop is just a treat.  On a regular basis it can cause problems.
