primal diet and food allergies

Question
I have been doing quite a bit of work trying to heal my kids.  They all suffer
from significant food allergies (documented) as well as heavy metal toxicity.
They were never vaccinated and have never had any medications at all.  Their
imbalances are clearly a result of my issues.

My older two were diagnosed on the autism spectrum and I got them off
through diet alone.  They have gotten much better but are very sensitive to
foods.  In fact when we went raw my daughter's health deteriorated...after
reading AV's book I upped her raw fats and the change has been dramatic.

I am currently following the Primal DIet and have experienced complete
remission of all *my* symptoms which I believe was a result of two things:
removing fiber and upping fat.  I am VERY interested in putting my kiddos on
it to help heal their allergies as well as mobilize and bind heavy metals.
However there's an issue...

I have one allergic to eggs, all three to dairy (even raw pastured dairy),
avacado and banana, one to shellfish and another to citrus.  All can do beef,
chicken and lamb.  Is there any way to do this?  I would like to take the leap
of faith to believe that this diet can heal them.  I have seen raw fats make a
difference already.  Is it possible that in the absence of other foods, or simply
in the presence of an abundance of raw fat they will be able to tolerate
allergens?  Or is that wishful thinking?  Have you had any experience with
people healing allergies to raw foods-specifically the top recommended
foods-on this diet?  AV says only a small amount of people are truly allergic
to dairy...I have to say that I'm not sure that is true.  My third has never been
exposed to anything BUT raw dairy and even reacts when I consume it
(horrible cramping, constipation and painful stooling.)  AV makes the dairy
fats (cheese and butter) seem really important.  I'd love to give it a try...

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
When I first realised that I had a severe allergy to raw dairy, I contacted Aajonus by e-mail,once(ages ago), and he assured  me,at the time, that allergies to raw foods don't exist(!), and told me about some methods he recommended. I was somewhat sceptical of this statement, especially since these methods, mentioned by him and some of his Primal-Diet-adherents, seemed highly unlikely to work(eg:- drinking raw dairy warmed to room-temperature not straight from the fridge, always drinking raw milk combined with raw honey, fermenting raw dairy for several days etc. etc.) Needless to say, none of these methods worked for me at all, nor with many others I talked to. Well, at least AV seems to have slightly changed his stance in the last couple of years.

I have heard a few claims by some Primal-Dieters that they supposedly "cured" their allergies via certain alternative-healing therapies(even some form of psychotherapy, in one case!), but I'm highly doubtful of such claims. The fact that many long-term Primal-Dieters who drink lots of raw-dairy have frequently complained of detox, even after years on the Primal Diet, is an indication, IMO, that they are actually experiencing food-sensitivity/allergy symptoms to dairy, rather than detox-  or, in  some cases, magnesium-deficiency(common among those who overdo the dairy-consumption, due to excess calcium-intake blocking uptake of magnesium). If you want to hear of such accounts, so as to get an opposing viewpoint,  you should perhaps post queries  on the Primal Diet and Livefood Yahoo Groups to find out more re such claims re removing allergy symptoms.

I do concede that some forms of dairy might perhaps be  less harmful than others, though, for some people. For example, in my own case, symptoms from raw-dairy consumption take  a little longer to appear than is the case with pasteurised dairy - though, in the end, symptoms become just as bad, over time. Others have claimed getting fewer or no symptoms from just sticking to raw butter(it has negligible lactose-content) and avoiding all  other kinds of dairy, or by going in, variously, for raw goat's/sheeps'/buffalo/mares' dairy instead of raw cow's  dairy. Also, I would strongly suggest that you don't overdo the dairy-consumption(or indeed of overconsumption of any one specific food), and use it only in moderate amounts. One of the biggest problems occurs when people stick to just a few raw  foods, eating them in excess amounts, instead of having a more varied raw diet.

None of those ideas worked for me, though - I find all raw dairy, ultimately harmful.

I would suggest trying out some of the ideas I've suggested, but not to be too hopeful re chances of success. Certainly, if there are even mild symptoms despite using the various methods, you should then try non-dairy alternatives(and, of course, avoid any other relevant allergenic foods, where appropriate to the individual).

Now, obviously, since dairy and eggs are two of the main staples of the Primal Diet and a primary PD-source of animal-fat, it's best to look around for other alternatives, if they can't be handled with ease. Certain raw, organ-meats such as tongue, brains, marrow, white muscle-meat-fat in general(eg:- lamb-fat), and suet are well worth considering as alternative sources of raw animal-fats. And, like I said before, increasing the variety of the diet, in general, should help as well.
