Enzyme supplement

Question
Hi. Could you tell me if it is safe to take an enzyme supplement?  I have read that the supplement can help if a person doesn't eat enough raw vegetables. Unfortunatley I do not eat raw vegetables or fruit at all(it is very bitter to me).  So I am wondering if this would help? I feel like I can't seem to lose weight and am hoping that this could help.  I also take synthroid for hypotyroid and was rechecked not long ago and my thyroid levels came back normal.  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Theresa,
Generally enzyme supplements are pretty safe, but they're not going to take away the bitter taste. On the other hand, it isn't important to eat raw foods. Just cook your veggies in the microwave, or use a steamer, or bake them in the oven-pretty much anything except boiling, so that nutrients don't leak out into the cooking water. Canned fruits and vegetables also have fewer nutrients than fresh or frozen, so avoid those. Eating more non-starchy vegetables is bound to help with weight loss if you can work them in.
