Plant sources of serotonin precursors

Question
Are there fruits & vegetable that are rich in serotonin or tryptophan?

Answer

Tryptophan is an essential amino acid metabolized into 5-HTP by the body. 5 HTP is precursor converted into serotonin (which is a brain chemical providing a mean of communication between specific, serotoninegric, neurons.) The entire serotoninergic system is a very important controller of mood, hunger and sleep. This being said, let's talk about Tryptophan and 5-HTP since plants cant produce serotonin itself.

The richest 5-HTP-containing plant is a climbing shrub Griffonia simplicifolia. Here's why it's important to mention. In 1980, tryptophan was banned because a batch was contaminated during the fermentation process. 5-HTP is now extracted from the seed of the Griffonia simplicifolia seeds without fermentation.

As to plant sources of tryptophan, evening primrose seed contains the most of it followed by brown rice, peanuts, sesame seeds, bananas, and and avocados.
