Weight Loss Tip #5 – Stay away from fad diets

Several fad diets become popular among those aspiring to lose weight because of one reason – they promise quick results. However, these fad diets are not good for you since they can harm your body in several ways. For eg., fad diets can lead to constipation, weakness, fatigue, nausea, depression and muscle loss. Another telling component of these fad diets, is that they do not encourage you to combine exercise along with the diet.

Atkins diet for example is an extremely popular and celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Renee Zellweger have lost weight through this diet. However, it isn’t healthy as it asks you to cut down on carbohydrates which are essential for the proper functioning of several of your organs.

According to nutritionist Neha Chandna, ‘These days, everyone wants to lose weight in the blink of an eye and to achieve their dream body, they resort to fad diets which definitely work but for a short period of time. They help you lose weight from your muscles and bones leaving you feeling weak and ill. And once you go back to your normal routine, you gain all the weight or even more in no time. You do the math and see what’s the whole point of following some diet regime which is short-lived, deprives you of nutrients and has many hazardous effects on your body?’

A healthy diet will consist of the right amount of necessary nutrients like carbohydrates, proteins, fats and vitamins. What you need to understand is that, you don’t really need to give up on all foods, but instead watch your portions so that you don’t consume more calories than what is required. Here is a healthy Indian diet plan that can help you lose weight.
