Losing weight, and more importantly, keeping it off, requires 3 key elements (especially if you are looking for the healthiest way). To lose weight you need to focus on nutrition, exercise and work on your mind set.
Let's start with the mind. WHY? This is the question that you need to ask yourself. You need to know the reason you want to lose weight. And don't just look for a simple answer, like, to lose 10 pounds. This is not a reason, this is the goal. Sure, you may achieve it, even go past it, but in the long run, that weight will come back - why? Because your WHY was not compelling enough. In order to achieve lasting results, we need a purpose. The deeper the purpose, the better the results. I recommend doing a bit of reading on self improvement. Check out YouTube and materials by Anthony Robbins, Napoleon Hill, Brian Tracy. There are people who will help that something click within you and give you the answer to your question - WHY?
Next is the exercise. I am not looking to get you to the gym for 2 hours 5 times a week. That often is more discouraging than beneficial. Find a physical activity that you like doing. Walking, running, cycling, swimming, tennis, basketball. Just make sure you do it regularly. The simpler the activity, the better, as you will not have an excuse not to do it. Even 2 minute kettlebell exercises 4 times a week are a great way to get going. Start off lightly. The worst thing you can do is work yourself to the ground and dread returning to your exercises. Even yoga breathing exercises count as a workout!
Nutrition - our final element in the puzzle. Nutrition is very important, but without the previous 2 elements, will have a very small impact in the long run. After all, you are looking for the healthiest way to lose weight and to keep it off. The best approach to nutrition is to look at foods that will benefit you instead of focusing on the ones that harm. By introducing proper foods, you will slowly find less room for the bad ones and, in time, naturally reduce their consumption. Start the day with a warm glass of water with lemon and follow it up with a nutritious breakfast of fruit and vegetables. For those on the run, have a meal replacement shake.
