Speed Up Computer Vista Operating System With These 5 Tips

If your computer is running Vista and it seems that it is running slower and slower here's 5 things you can do to speed up computer Vista operating systems.  Most of these you can do yourself with out endangering your Vista operating system.

Delete all of the programs you are not going to use.  To do this open your control panel and go to "Programs" and click on "Uninstall a program".  You will be presented with a list of the programs that are installed on your computer if you right click on a program it will prompt you as to whether you want to uninstall it or not.

Limit how many programs load on start up.  You can check this by looking at the tray at the bottom right of your computer screen and checking your start up drawer.  The start up folder can be accessed by clicking on the windows icon at the bottom right of your screen and then clicking "All Programs".  Delete any program short cuts you find in this folder that you don't want to run on start up.  To control the programs in the tray you need to use windows defender.

Open the control panel then open "Security" and open "Windows Defender".  From there you can select which programs you want run on start up.

Defragment your hard drive.  To do this open your control panel and select "System and Maintenance" go to "Administrative Tools" and select "Defragment your hard drive".  If your hard drive is over 10% fragmented do a complete defragment of it.

Clean up your hard drive.  Erase all of the unused junk on your hard drive.  Again, open your control panel open "System and Maintenance" and then open "Performance Information and Tools".  In the left hand task panel select "Open Disk Cleanup".

If your Vista operating system is freezing up or stuttering or if it just won't speed up even tough you have followed all of these tips you may have a problem with your registry.  This is good news and bad news.  The bad news is that unless you are very experienced you shouldn't mess with your registry.  The good news is that you could have your PC running like new in just a few moments with the right registry software.  Most registry software will scan your computer for free so you won't have to pay it unless you need it.  Also, most registry software isn't terribly expensive if you do need it.
