When your urge to eat is fueled by emotions, you will find it impossible to control what you eat, when, and how much.

1. Eliminate chocolates and chips from your cabinet. Stock up on equally yummy but healthier snack options, such as bananas and applesauce.
2. Exercise! It's free, it's easy to do, it relieves stress, and it's an excellent way to stay fit! You can shoot a few hoops with your kids, run around the block, take a walk, or do some cardio to help you work off some of your frustrations. Another plus to exercise is that you can do it anywhere, even at work. You can walk up or down a flight of stairs, for example.
3. Keep a journal. If you can't be bothered to write with a pen, then keep an online journal. Take note of your progress. Highlight every achievement, no matter how small. Similarly, write down your setbacks -- doing this will help you reinforce your goals.
4. Find support. Don't eat to relieve stress. Instead, talk to a friend or a family member you trust. Keep a diary and write down the things that upset you. Join online forums. There are many things you can do to let off steam.
