The statistics about how fat Americans are is simply staggering. Somewhere along the line people have seemed to have forgotten what it means to be in shape. They get touted as some earth shattering breakthrough and all they do is take weight off fast and then the moment the person goes off of the diet, they gain it all back.

A challenge for everyone is actually staying on the diet that they have chose use for their weight loss. Many times the food is below average or there just isn't enough of a variety to keep them interested. After all, who wants to live off of meals that are coming out of a cardboard box? Another popular diet that is getting a lot of press is the hCG diet. There is no denying the fact that it works, but the original diet only allows people to have 500 calories a day. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich has more than 500 calories! How can anyone not lose weight with this kind of restriction?

What happens to the person when they come off of such a restrictive diet and then eat normally again. You guessed it, the weight comes right back on and they are often worse than where they started off at. This is no way to truly lose weight and keep it off.

It is amazing how many items are out there that are the perfect combination for someone that is looking to lose weight. Calories are not necessarily the problem; it is the type of calories that are being eaten. Instead of suffering through hunger pains and a 500 calorie diet, why not have 1,500 calories of foods that help burn fat and never be hungry all day long?

The real truth about how to have a diet that will get the weight off and keep it off is actually out there, sometimes it is just hidden. Instead of falling for the hype and the sensationalism, use a diet that will actually work and do what everyone actually wants, lose weight. When this approach is taken, the weight will come off and stay off permanently.
