lap band surgery

Question
can i have lap band surgery if i have already had gastric bypass i had the surgery in the year 2000

Answer
I'm not sure that the structure of your stomach will allow for a lap band; only your physician can tell you that.

If you had gastric bypass in 2000 are you considering Lap Band surgery because you have gained weight back?  If so, I would remind you that NO surgery is the total FIX for control of your weight; it is only a tool to help.  YOU must take action to curb your intake and any surgery that you would have would only serve to support your other efforts.

You went through the pain and recovery of the gastric bypass surgery, so I'm not sure why you would want to go through that again.  Control of your weight is in your hands and no surgeon will be able to solve that.  There must be some effort on your part to reduce your caloric intake.

I hope that you will consult your physician so that you can come to the best of all decisions.

Good Luck!
