Reversal/Revision

Question
I had asked two questions about two weeks ago regarding reversing my RNY surgery. They definitely want to do that because of the nausea and vomitting I have had for the past five years do to vagal nerve injury causing gastroparesis and dysmotility of the intestinal tract. I was wondering who you would recomment do reverse the RNY and put on a lap band or possibly convert to DS? They were thinking lap bandcause the size of my stomach could be controlled easily with the fill. Thanks

Answer
Alannah,
I have the feeling that your GI tract has been through so much that anything done to it has a chance of causing more problems than help.  Given that perception, I would definitely go for the smaller operation (Band) rather than the major re-routing that would be necessary with conversion to a DS - I'm frankly not sure how a DS would be accomplished after a previous gastric bypass.

Best of luck!
