no weightloss when starving

Question
why is it that everyone say that if you eat too little or are staving, you won't lose weight? i know the whole starvation mode but if that is true, how do yu explain the anorexics and the malnourished children from other countries? they starve all the time.

Answer
Eating too few calories can eventually slow down your metabolism and put you into "starvation mode" where your body starts to hold on to fat to survive.  As far as anorexics and malnourished children that is a whole different situation.  Those people are not even eating enough to give the body fat to hold onto.  They do literally starve to death.
