growth 16 yr old boy 410 tall 95#s

Question
my son is 95# 4'10" tall, he will be 16  april  2009
should i be concerned about his growth? do childern this age get HGH? should i see a specialist?

Answer
I will help, but I am by no means a "specialist" when it comes to this. I would recommend consulting a professional.

From what I understand, everyone no matter what age produces some ammount of HGH (human growth hormone). The way I understand it, the ammount your body produces deminishes over time but it is always present. I am not sure that it is uncomon for your son to be this size or not. The issue may simply be that he has not started puberty yet. I would HIGHLY recommend seeing your family physician and possibly an endocrinologist.

Again I wish I could help more but I have extremely limited knowladge when it comes to this sort of question. My expertise is more with conditioning diets and excersize regiments, or diets for adjusting weight in athletes. I am sorry I cannot help more.
