low potassium diets

Question
My mother in law has just been told she needs to stick to a low potassium diet but she is also diabetic. They have given her a list of foods she can not eat but with her already not eating so many foods due to her diabetes, she has not a clue what she could eat or drink, do you have any suggestions on the subject??

Answer
This can be kind of tricky- generally raw fruits in moderation and raw vegetables will work well- Raw nuts and seeds particularly raw almond butter and raw tahini- If you can give me an idea of the list she received on what "not" to eat and what her diet was like prior to that information based on the severity of her diabetes I can offer more advanced/in depth suggestions. There is a great new book called "Reversing diabetes naturally" by Gabriel Cousins this would be a great resource for you as well- Let me know how else I can help!
