Weight Loss for Poor College student

Question
QUESTION: Hi,
I'm a student in college right now who understands the true meaning of being a "poor college student." Finances and time have prevented me from buying fresh fruits and veggie especially organic food because its so expensive. I have a full schedule between work, classes and an internship so I spend a lot of my money on cheap fast food or making Koolaid. I eat out almost every day and the the food I do buy is mainly for on the go like-Yogurt, pizza rolls, etc. I have an apartment so i could cook but I have no time to or money to but expensive groceries. Also, i get home late afternoon to evening on most days and I have no energy to work out. I used to last summer and I enjoyed it but I stopped and haven't gone back since. I want to find a way to eat healthier but stay within budget but still loose weight and enjoy the little spare time I have! It's complicated, I know! I haven't weighed myself in a while but I sure I'm about 145lbs and up but not pass 160.Im 5'4". I have gained visible weight in my stomach, legs and arms, but I know some good cardio and toning will help.

What or where do you recommend I start? I need some motivation!

Thanks,

Krystle

ANSWER: Krystle,
First thing I have to say is, I think Fast food eating costs more than groceries.  And is so bad for your health it's not worth the savings.  What is your food budget weekly?  Thats a good place to start.

Lea

QUESTION: Well currently I don't have a food budget. Because I get paid so little, I live check to check. If I had to choose a price based on my income i would say $25 to $30 a week for a two week period.

Answer
Sorry, I am confused by that response, I'm not sure if you mean $25-30 every week or every 2 weeks.  You said both there.  Either way that's a difficult amount of money to work with.  Instead of koolaid I would recommend drinking more water or chilled green tea (tastes great and is healthy).  Those calories are the most wasted in your diet and even that lil change could make a huge difference.  Also you will save money without buying sugar.  The yogurt is good.  How much money does a pizza roll cost?  Where do you get things like that?  That may help me figure out more ideas.
Thanks,
Lea
